Flowers facing the sun

A sunlit flower photograph celebrates color, light, and the everyday beauty of nature.

Flowers lit from the front by the sun

Light can turn a familiar flower into something worth studying. In this picture, the sun gives the petals their color and makes the small details easier to notice.

I often take photographs of flowers because they ask for a slower kind of attention. Their shapes are already there; the work is to notice how the light falls and where the color gathers. A brief pause can make the ordinary feel vivid again.

This is a little record of that pause, and of the pleasure of finding beauty close at hand.

Thanks for spending a moment here.Back to stories
