Bangkok in motion

A city portrait told through Bangkok’s buses, taxis, Skytrain, and ever-moving traffic.

The BTS Skytrain moving through Bangkok

Bangkok is easiest to understand in motion. The taxis, old buses, and Skytrain all move through the same busy city, each carrying its own pace and point of view.

I have photographed these journeys from different angles: a traffic time-lapse, a line of taxis, an orange bus, and the BTS crossing the city. Together they feel like a small portrait of daily life here. The traffic can look overwhelming from the outside, but it is also a rhythm people learn to move with.

The Skytrain offered a different view during the quieter COVID period. Seeing the same city with fewer people made the familiar feel briefly unfamiliar. These moments remind me that a city is never just its buildings; it is also all the ways people get from one place to another.

Thanks for spending a moment here.Back to stories
